Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson's Store on Bowles

The History of Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson

Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson was incorporated on October 22, 1978 and first opened its doors for business on February 10, 1979.
Our first shop was located at 2970 W. Bowles Avenue, Littleton, Colorado and was only 9,000 sq. ft. In the three short years while located on Bowles, Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson made a name for itself as a dealership, quickly climbing from our spot as the 619th highest grossing franchise to being among the top 20 dealerships in the nation. The Motor Company recognized this stellar rise, and in 1981 named Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson "Promoter of the Year."

In the spring of 1982, the city of Littleton informed us that they were redeveloping the area on which our shop sat and were going to turn it into Riverfront Mall. Suddenly, after only three years in business we had to find a new home. Luckily, we found a new location in Englewood before our first shop was razed.

Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson's Store on Broadway

On October 11, 1982 Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson opened its second shop at 4204 S. Broadway, Englewood, Colorado. This second shop was almost 12,000 sq. ft. and gave us the room we needed to grow. As Harley-Davidson began to get more and more popular, and as it revitalized the motorcycling industry with the Evolution engine, new motorcycles, and lines of accessories and clothing our new "big" shop soon became too small. In 1991, to accommodate our growing size, we purchased the property adjacent to ours, connected the two buildings, and moved our service department to the new area.

For a total of 17 years Englewood and the Broadway store were our home. We made our own history there. We watched as the Harley-Davidson brand changed and evolved, and though we evolved with it we always kept true to ourselves and to our roots. We have never forgotten where we started.

By September of 1998, it became apparent that we would soon outgrow the shop on Broadway. The next 18 months were spent planning, designing, and building our new 30,000 sq. ft. home at 2885 W. County Line Rd., Littleton, CO. Before we closed the doors on Broadway forever, we had a send off that only Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson could pull off … our "Give Our Regards to Broadway" party was one for the memory books. Nearly 5,000 of our loyal customers and supporters showed up to send us off!

Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson's Store on County Line Road

April 4, 2000. We opened our new store on County Line Rd. We are very proud of how far we have come and yet happy to say that we're pretty much the same as ever! The year 2000 was a whirlwind … not only did we close our Broadway shop with a bang, and not only did we open our new shop, but we were also the host dealership for the 2000 national and international Harley-Davidson dealer convention.
Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson has, and will, stand the test of time. We look forward to the future … the odyssey continues.
